World Bank aid for KERA: Kerala to probe how media got news

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 14 (UNI) The Kerala government has ordered an inquiry into how a confidential letter from the World Bank regarding funding for the ‘KERA’ project was leaked to the media.
In a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office said, “The leaking and publication of such highly confidential letters can damage the government’s credibility in the eyes of a financial institution. Understanding how such a lapse occurred is essential for the smooth functioning of the government.”
The government clarified that the probe is not an action against journalists. “Portraying this as an action against journalists is nothing but fake news and propaganda. If there has been a lapse by government officials in connection with the publication of a false news item, investigating it and identifying those responsible should not be interpreted as an anti-media move,” the release said.
