Yellow alert in Kangra till May 24

Dharamshala, May 21 (UNI) A yellow alert has been issued regarding heat wave in Kangra district till May 24, officials said on Tusday.
After the regional Met office has forecast a possibility of hot winds and heat wave for next few days, the State Disaster Management, Shimla has requested citizens to be alert and take precautions to avoid heat wave, deputy commissioner Hemraj Bairwa told UNI.
To beat heat, he suggested that several precautionary measures such as people should have a bath with cold water, keep the houses cool with use of curtains, shutters etc, keep windows open at night, stay hydrated, not to go out in harsh sun, avoid working outside in harsh sun, not to consume alcohol, tea, coffee, highly sweetened beverages, cold drinks, aerated substances and avoid taking stale food or cooking food in extreme heat, he added.
