YSRCP opposes Waqf act amendments: Amzath Basha

Vijayawada, Aug 9 (UNI) Former Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP senior Leader S B Amzath Basha on Friday came down heavily on the Narendra Modi government's proposed amendments to the Waqf Act and demanded a roll back of the decision.

He said the amendments infringe upon the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution and alleged the NDA government at the Centre was trying to undermine minority rights and religious freedom. Basha emphasised that once a property is donated to Waqf, it should remain under Waqf's control permanently, and any amendments to this law are unjust.
