SC asks Centre to evolve pilot project linking fuel supply to vehicles with valid insurance status

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court has directed the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), in consultation with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), to evolve a pilot project linking the supply of fuel to vehicles with their valid insurance status, observing that vehicles without a valid insurance policy should be denied fuel at petrol pumps until the insurance is renewed.

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah Shawesh, said that an India-funded hospital is coming up in West Bank and is expected to be completed in two years, while the two sides are in talks to advance healthcare cooperation, especially in the sphere of artificial limbs from India being fitted on Palestinian amputees.
Addressing a press conference at the Palestinian embassy in New Delhi, Shawesh also backed India’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2028-29 to use its influence to advance the peace process.

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the Odisha State Sentence Review Board’s continued delay in deciding the premature release plea of Ravindra Kumar Pal alias Dara Singh, who is undergoing life imprisonment for the 1999 killing of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons, Philip and Timothy, and warned the authorities that it would itself take a call if a decision was not taken.
