'Secular Ideals at stake': NCP's Sarang seeks to discipline MLA Jagtap

Mumbai, June 24 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) state vice president Saleem Sarang has formally demanded disciplinary action against Ahmednagar MLA Sangram Jagtap for alleged anti-Muslim remarks on Tuesday, warning that such rhetoric threatens the party's secular principles.
In a detailed complaint to NCP president Ajit Pawar and state chief Sunil Tatkare, Sarang asserted that the NCP has consistently upheld secular values regardless of political alliances, calling it the bedrock that attracts minority community representatives. He cited the ruling Mahayuti government's record on Muslim welfare as evidence of this commitment.
The grievance specifically references Jagtap's repeated use of inflammatory phrases during his speeches. Sarang cautioned that failure to address such conduct risks alienating Muslim constituents ahead of local body elections.
