‘The Boys’ season five debuts April 8, trailer unveiled

Washington, Dec 7 (UNI) Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that the fifth and final season of its hit satirical superhero series “The Boys” will debut on April 8, launching with its first two episodes. New episodes will premiere weekly, culminating in the series finale on May 20, Variety reported.
The announcement came during the show’s panel at CCXP Brazil, where creator Eric Kripke and cast members also revealed the first teaser trailer.
The teaser thrilled fans by showcasing a long-awaited on-screen reunion between Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
Ackles reprises his role as Soldier Boy, while details about Padalecki’s character remain under wraps, though the footage hints at a storyline linking the two.
According to the official Season 5 description, the story unfolds in a world fully under Homelander’s volatile control. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are held in a so-called “Freedom Camp,” while Annie struggles to spark a resistance against the overpowering Supes.
Kimiko has vanished without a trace. When Butcher resurfaces with a devastating virus capable of wiping out all Supes, he ignites a chain of events that promises to reshape the world forever. “It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen,” the description teases.
The teaser also shows Butcher (Karl Urban) reuniting with Hughie (Jack Quaid), Annie (Erin Moriarty), and the rest of the team after his sudden exit in Season 4, setting the stage for a high-stakes final showdown to stop global catastrophe.
Alongside Urban, Quaid, Moriarty, Ackles, and Padalecki, the final season features Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, and Valorie Curry.
Based on the best-selling comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is developed by showrunner Eric Kripke.
The extensive executive producer team includes Kripke, Ennis, Robertson, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, and more.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures, The Boys anchors an expanding franchise that features spin-offs like Gen V, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the upcoming prequel Vought Rising led by Ackles, and a new Mexico-set series currently in development.
