‘The Wrecking Crew’ trailer shows explosive brotherly yakuza action

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The trailer for ‘The Wrecking Crew’ just dropped, and it’s serving up explosive, brotherly brawl energy that screams blockbuster action. Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista star as estranged half-brothers Jonny and James, thrown together by the mysterious death of their father in Hawaii.
What begins as a family reunion quickly spirals into a full-throttle revenge spree against the Yakuza, blending buddy-cop chaos with conspiracy twists that land perfectly.
The two-minute sizzle reel opens with a brutal car ambush. Momoa’s loose-cannon cop Jonny and Bautista’s disciplined Navy SEAL James fight for survival, only to uncover a Yakuza connection to their father’s death.
Quick cuts showcase Jonny’s improvisational cop instincts clashing with James’s precise military training: knife fights in bathrooms, John Wick–style gear-up montages, and a hallway brawl echoing Oldboy.
Bautista growls, “I am that bear,” before wreaking havoc, while Momoa trades quips and punches amid Hawaii’s sun-soaked landscapes turned warzones.
The brothers’ banter lands like real sibling spats: Jonny dismisses their father’s death as a hit-and-run, while James senses foul play. Buried family secrets emerge, forcing them to test loyalties while dismantling a conspiracy threatening their ohana.
Explosions light up Hawaii’s beaches as speedboats dodge bullets, each stunt popping with cinematic flair. The film combines 21 Jump Street–style grit with The Raid’s furious action, all infused with tropical vibes.
Momoa and Bautista also produce, alongside heavyweights like Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. The ensemble impresses: Claes Bang plays a slippery villain, Temuera Morrison brings a real-life uncle vibe, Jacob Batalon adds charm, Frankie Adams (The Expanse), Miyavi, Stephen Root provides comic relief, and Morena Baccarin delivers edge.
Prime Video releases the full movie January 28, skipping theaters for instant binge access. In a world full of capes and reboots, ‘The Wrecking Crew’ feels refreshingly original: two action titans as mismatched brothers, avenging family amidst a chaotic Yakuza showdown.
