15 people killed as storms hit southern U.S. states

San Francisco, May 27 (UNI) At least 15 people have died in the southern U.S. states of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky after powerful storms and tornados hit the region.

In Texas, the storm destroyed a roadside travel stop and a community of mobile homes in Cooke County. Texas Governor Greg Abbot said at a press briefing on Sunday that seven people were killed and more than 100 others injured.

Brasilia, Feb. 7 (UNI) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump was elected to govern the United States, not "to rule the world."
In an interview with two radio stations based in the northeastern state of Bahia, Lula said, "I respect the election of President Trump who was elected by the American people to govern the United States," but "he was not elected to rule the world."
The U.S. president has to maintain "democratic and civilized" relations with the rest of the world, Lula noted, with reference to Trump's intention to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Trump signs executive order imposing sanctions on ICC

Washington, Feb. 7 (UNI) U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), claiming that the court "has engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel."
"The ICC has no jurisdiction over the United States or Israel, as neither country is party to the Rome Statute or a member of the ICC," the order said. The Rome Statute is the international treaty that established the ICC.
