7.9 pc of Kerala women affected by cervical cancer

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 17 (UNI) Recent studies indicate that around 7.9 percent of women in Kerala are affected by cervical cancer, underscoring an urgent need for early detection and stronger preventive measures.
World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, observed globally on November 17, serves as a timely reminder of the importance of awareness and timely medical intervention.
Health experts point out that cervical cancer, one of the leading cancers among women,is primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Early diagnosis, they stress, greatly improves treatment outcomes.
