8-Cr bribery scandal exposed in Pune Housing Society; liquidator and Ex-Administrator arrested by ACB

Pune Dec 6 (UNI) A shocking case of an Rs 8-crore bribery demand has come to light in the Ekta Cooperative Housing Society located in Dhankawadi, Pune. The liquidator appointed by the Cooperation Department and the former administrator allegedly demanded the bribe for issuing share certificates to 33 new members and for ensuring the victory of a preferred bidder in a future property auction. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped the accused while accepting an advance amount of Rs 30 lakh.
The arrested accused are Vinod Manikrao Deshmukh (50), the current liquidator, and Bhaskar Rajaram Pol (56), former administrator and government panel auditor. Both have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vishrambaug Police Station, said police here on Saturday.
In 2005, the complainant (61) and 32 others purchased shares from old members and obtained membership of the society. Due to disputes over membership in 2020, the Cooperation Department appointed an administrator. Later, in 2024, the society was moved into liquidation and Vinod Deshmukh was appointed as liquidator. In 2023, the complainant and 32 members applied to then administrator Bhaskar Pol for share certificates. Pol cleared the applications of the other 32 members but kept the complainant’s application pending, claiming the complainant was absent for the hearing.
