AAP MP Sanjay Singh Criticises PM Modi Over Remarks on Fuel and Household Consumption

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI): Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Monday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over recent remarks related to reducing the use of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and edible oil, alleging that the Centre was shifting the burden of inflation onto the public after the conclusion of elections in five states.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Sanjay Singh claimed that the government had projected itself as protecting the public from rising prices during the election period, but discussions around reducing fuel and household consumption emerged only after polling concluded. He alleged that people were being asked to make sacrifices in the name of patriotism while prices of essential commodities continued to rise.
The AAP leader also referred to the recent increase in prices of commercial LPG cylinders and smaller 5-kg cylinders, saying the hike would impact street vendors, tea sellers, labourers, students, and economically weaker sections. He accused the government of imposing inflationary pressure on common people while continuing with large political rallies and foreign visits.
