Akash Deep rewrites record books in England

Birmingham, July 6 (UNI) Akash Deep etched his name in the history books with a scintillating ten-wicket match haul, propelling India to a landmark 336-run victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston.
The fast bowler’s match figures of 10 for 187 are now the best ever by an Indian in England, surpassing Chetan Sharma’s 10 for 188 on the same ground back in 1986.
This resounding win marked India’s first-ever Test victory at Edgbaston — achieved after 19 attempts, making it the most number of Tests played by any Asian team before recording a maiden win at an away venue. The breakthrough triumph surpassed previous such feats by Pakistan at Lord’s in 1982 and Sri Lanka at Kensington Oval in 2018, both of which came after 17 matches.
