AP CM pushes road safety reform; municipal roads to get standard lane markings

Vijayawada, May 20 (UNI) In a major urban road safety and mobility reform initiative, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a statewide programme for implementation of standardized road lane markings, kerb painting and scientific traffic signages across all 123 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State.
Principal Secretary, UD Department, S Suresh Kumar on Tuesday issued comprehensive directions to the Commissioner, Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) and Engineer-in-Chief, PHMED for immediate implementation of the programme using available municipal general funds and road maintenance grants.
The initiative has been taken up following the directions of Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu, who emphasized that all municipal roads in Andhra Pradesh should reflect modern urban mobility standards with visible traffic discipline, improved pedestrian safety and globally benchmarked urban road infrastructure practices.

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the future of Telangana lies in classrooms, not in "glass palaces or colourful walls."
Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating the Telangana Public School (TPS) at Arutla in Rangareddy district, the Chief Minister said the school was dedicated not only to the village but also to the 27 lakh students studying in government schools across the state.
