AP: Nine killed as bus falls into gorge

Paderu, Dec 12 (UNI) Nine tourists were killed and 18 were injured, five of them critically, when a tourist bus fell into a gorge at Maredumilli village in the ASR district in the early hours of Friday.
Police said a group of tourists from Chittoor and Tirupati districts were on a pilgrimage. After visiting some places in the Araku region, they were on their way to the Sriram Temple in Bhadrachalam, Telangana. When the bus was ascending the ghat road, it veered off and plunged into a gorge.
Five tourists died on the spot, while four others succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to hospital. At least 18 people were injured in the mishap, and the condition of five of them is said to be very critical. All the injured were admitted to the GGH in Paderu.
