AP: People’s organizations go on hunger strike demanding prohibition

Kakinada, Oct 2 (UNI) Members of various people's organizations have commenced hunger strike in front of the collectorate here on Wednesday to mark 155th Gandhi Jayanthi, demanding to free the people from alcoholism by implementing total prohibition.
They raised slogans demanding the government to regulate the publicity on sale of liquor and spend 10 per cent of the liquor sales income on publicity in favour of liquor prohibition.
The speakers who addressed the agitators have called upon the people to take up intensive door-to-door campaigning in favour of total prohibition.

Seethakka warns suppliers over delays, poor quality of Anganwadi goods

AP: Most wanted Maoist Hidma among 6 killed in encounter, weapons seized

Paderu, Nov 18 (UNI) The Maoists suffered a major blow on Tuesday as their Most wanted top leader Madvi Hidma alias Santhosh was among the six extremists killed in a fierce encounter at Maredumilli village in a dense forest area of the Eastern Ghats in Andhra Pradesh.
Hidma was carrying a cash reward of rupees one crore on his head and earned notoriety for committing major offences including killing of police personnel and political leaders. Hidma, who also operated as the self-styled Liberation Guerilla commander, had remained elusive for the past 25 years.
