Arif Habib group says efforts underway to expand PIA fleet to 60 to boost competitiveness and revenue

Islamabad, Apr 11 (UNI) Chairperson of the Arif Habib Consortium said efforts are underway for expanding the fleet of Pakistan's national airline carrier – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) – to 60 aircraft, as the carrier undergoes full privatisation and dramatic restructuring to improve its efficiency, competitiveness, and generate greater revenue.
Arif Habib, chairperson of the group, said the airline currently operates with significant limitations, with only 18 of its 30 aircraft currently being operational, while several others remain grounded pending repairs.
As such, work is in progress to restore five to six aircraft, raising the inventory of the active fleet to around 26 in the near term.

Beijing, May 14 (UNI) Projecting the high-stakes talks with China's President Xi Jinping as "positive," President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the Washington–Beijing relationship is "one of the most consequential in world history."
During remarks at a state reception in Beijing, Trump also extended an invitation for Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, to visit the White House on September 24, underscoring a continued push to strengthen diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
