Arki Fire Tragedy: DC orders swift relief and rescue, SDRF deployed

Shimla, Jan 12 (UNI) A devastating fire broke out in Arki Bazaar about 38 km from the capital Shimla in the early hours of Monday has claimed the life of an eight-year-old child and left several people injured, while causing extensive damage to shops and residential structures. The district administration has ordered speedy completion of relief and rescue operations and announced immediate assistance to the affected families.
The Deputy Commissioner confirmed the tragic death of eight-year-old Priyansh in the incident and said immediate assistance has been provided to the bereaved family. Nine are reported missing, he added, and two injured persons are undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, Arki, and instructions have been issued to ensure all necessary medical and financial assistance.
According to official information, the fire erupted around 2:45 AM in an old wooden building located in the congested market area of Arki Bazaar. Due to the wooden structure, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing nearby shops and residential portions. Fire tenders from the Arki Fire Department, along with additional vehicles from Boileauganj in Shimla district, Banlagi in Solan district and the Ambuja Cement Plant, were rushed to the spot to combat the blaze.
