ASEAN, Russia agree to deepen energy ties, expand cooperation on LNG, Nuclear Power

Kazan ( Russia) June 18 (UNI) Southeast Asian nations and Russia agreed on Thursday to strengthen cooperation in energy security, liquefied natural gas (LNG), civilian nuclear power and low-carbon technologies, as both sides seek to bolster resilience against growing global energy market disruptions.
In a joint statement adopted at a summit in Kazan marking the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Russia pledged to elevate energy cooperation into a strategic pillar of their partnership.
The agreement comes amid concerns over rising energy insecurity caused by geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions and market volatility, which the parties said pose risks to economic resilience and sustainable development.
