Ashish Shelar hits back at Uddhav Thackeray over India–Pakistan match remarks

Nagpur, Sep 15 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and minister Ashish Shelar today criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray over his remarks on the India–Pakistan cricket match, saying his statements were “irrational and politically motivated.”
Thackeray had earlier alleged that playing cricket with Pakistan was a “mockery of patriotism” and claimed that cricket was being prioritised over national pride.
Reacting to the remarks, Shelar said the India–Pakistan clash held in Dubai yesterday was not a bilateral series but part of an international multi-nation tournament. “The Indian government is neither proposing nor accepting bilateral matches with Pakistan. In international competitions, India competes as part of a global schedule and there is no public sentiment against this,” he told reporters at Nagpur Airport.
