Assam plans to approach UN for declaring Bhupen Hazarika's song "Manuhe Manuhor Babe" as anthem of humanity

Guwahati, Nov 5 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that the state government is working to get Late Bhupen Hazarika's famous song 'Manuhe Manuhir Babe' recognized as the 'Anthem of Humanity' and added that it would submit a formal request to the global body regarding this.
Chief Minister said this while participating in the ‘Shraddhanjali’ programme organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha, Jalukbari, Guwahati.
Leading the state in paying rich tributes to the bard of the Brahmaputra on his 14th death anniversary, Sarma said that the people of Assam as well as the people belonging to Assamese communities living abroad are paying homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika through various programmes organized in their respective places.
