Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika dead

Guwahati, May 16 (UNI) Acclaimed Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika died at a hospital here on Friday afternoon after a long battle with colon cancer. family sources said.
Hazarika, 45, is survived by her husband and two sons, besides a host of admirers.
She had been admitted to a private hospital since May 12.
Hazarika had been singing since she was 11 years old, but shot to fame in 2014 after rendering her voice to a prominent song "Sora pate pate Fagun name".
Born in this state capital in 1980, Gayatri completed her schooling from TC Higher Secondary School in Guwahati and then studied in Handique Girls College here.
Later, she made her highest studies in music from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata and Bhatkhande Music College in Lucknow.
She scored the highest marks in music in her senior secondary examination.
Hazarika also lent her voice to several Assamese movies and teleserials.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the death of Hazarika and said that her soulful voice and contributions to music will always be remembered. UNI AS SSP
