Bangladesh: Man gets six-month jail term for killing pet cat

Dhaka, March 11 (UNI) A Dhaka court on Wednesday handed down a six-month jail sentence to a man for brutally killing a pet cat in the Bangladesh capital last year.
The verdict was delivered by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Albiruni Mir, who found the accused, Akbar Hossain Shiblu, guilty of intentionally and brutally killing the cat after examining witness testimonies and CCTV evidence.
In addition to the jail term, the court fined the convict Tk10,000 (INR 7, 520). In default of payment, he will have to serve an additional one month of simple imprisonment, as reported by Dhaka Tribune.
