Bangladesh's political crisis deepens as parties fail to reach consensus on July Charter implementation

Dhaka, Nov 10 (UNI) The seven-day deadline set by Bangladesh's interim government for political parties to reach a consensus on the referendum schedule and implementation of the July Charter expired today (Nov 10) without any agreement, deepening the country's ongoing political uncertainty.
Despite repeated calls for dialogue, major parties remain divided over both the timing of the referendum and whether the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) "notes of dissent" should be incorporated into the Charter. The deadlock has stalled progress on the reform process and added further uncertainty to the timeline for the forthcoming national election.
The July Charter — signed on Oct 17 following discussions facilitated by the National Consensus Commission — was intended to set out a framework for governance and political reforms through constitutional means. However, disputes soon arose over its implementation sequence, the inclusion of dissenting opinions, and the scheduling of the referendum.
