Bengal: BJP walks out of Assembly demanding resignation of Speaker

Kolkata, Mar 20 (UNI) The Opposition BJP on Thursday staged a walkout in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly to protest the alleged attack on their leader Suvendu Adhikari at Baruipur and demanded resignation of Speaker Biman Banerjee.
The BJP MLAs staged walkout after shouting slogans against the Speaker on the floor of the House as their adjournment motion to discuss the alleged attacks on Adhikari at his Baruipur (South 24 Parganas) road show was denied.
The BJP MLAs tore off papers and waved black flags at the Speaker before coming out from the House and shouted slogans outside demanding his resignation.
The opposition lawmaker also burnt black flags outside the assembly complex, an unprecedented
scene in renttime near the assembly house.
BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul alleged that they represent the people in the assembly but the Speaker
allegedly always denied them and put them under suspension,
Adhikari on Wednesday alleged that his car was attacked several times by the ruling Trinamool Congress supporters while on a road show at Baruipur and demanded imposition of the President's rule in West Bengal.
"Let the ECI (Election Commission of India) see what is happening here and the election in the state is not possible unless the state is put under the President's rule," Adhikari told reporters.
" My car was attacked several times by the baton-wielding TMC men and had I not been inside the car, my head would have been smashed," the Nandigram MLA said.
