BJD condemns Odisha Govt’s decision to scrap Bhubaneswar Metro Project, urges reconsideration

Bhubaneswar, April 6 (UNI) The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Odisha’s principal opposition party, on Monday sharply criticised the State government for scrapping the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project, a major initiative launched by the previous government.
BJD leaders, including Bhubaneswar District President and former Minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Cuttack Mayor Subhash Singh, and Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, voiced strong opposition to the BJP-led State government’s decision, calling for a reconsideration of the project.
Panda said the Metro Project was designed to address the growing connectivity needs between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. “It is unfortunate and regrettable that the State government has abandoned this initiative. Ministers are issuing conflicting statements regarding the cancellation, creating confusion and misleading the people,” Panda said.

Vikram Suresh Nadhe, Divisional Forest Officer, Central Forest Division, Yumnam Kiranjit, Range Forest Officer, Sadar West Range, forest staff, and a Research Scholar from the Department of Zoology, Manipur University took part in the relocation exercise.
