BJP delegation to visit Maddur

Bengaluru, Sept 9 (UNI) Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa today said a party delegation will visit Maddur in Mandya district tomorrow to assess the situation arising out of the recent violence during a Ganesha immersion procession, while accusing the Congress government of running a "Tughlaq Durbar" reminiscent of the "Nizam’s rule."
Vijayendra said he, along with senior leaders R Ashoka, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, CN Ashwathnarayan and others, would reach Maddur around 10 to 10.30 am. "The complete failure of the police department in Maddur is evident. We have instructed a fact-finding team under retired IPS officer Bhaskar Rao to verify facts and submit a report," he told reporters here.
Attacking the government over the handling of the incident, he said, "The cases against anti-national elements who pelted stones at the police station and set it on fire have been withdrawn. Why did the police fail to anticipate the participation of thousands of Hindu activists in the procession? Why were senior officers absent, and why was entry allowed into the mosque? The government itself created this opportunity."
