BJP scripts history in Kozhikode Corpn; gets post of chairperson of tax affairs standing committee

Kozhikode, Jan 13 (UNI) For the first time in the history of Kozhikode Corporation, the BJP won the post of chairperson of an important standing committee. BJP's Vineetha Sajeevan has been elected as the chairperson of the corporation's standing committee on taxation. Vineetha Sajeevan is a councilor from the Civil Station ward.
The BJP achieved the victory through a draw held after an LDF member abstained from voting. Out of the nine-member standing committee on taxation, BJP and UDF have four members each while the LDF has one member in the committee.
When the voting was held, the LDF member abstained. With this, the votes between the BJP and UDF members were equal. Then a draw was held to determine the winner. The draw was in favour of BJP's Vineeta Sajeev.
