Guwahati, Feb 29 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday that the BJP would contest 11 out of the 14 seats in Assam in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and the remaining three seats have been given to BJP allies Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) here.
Addressing a press conference, Sarma said, "The UPPL will contest the Kokrajhar seat, and the AGP will contest the two seats of Barpeta and Dhubri.".
AGP wanted four seats: Kaziranga, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Karimganj. But AGP was requested by the national leadership to contest in two seats, he added.
