BLO suicide: Kerala Unions boycott SIR duties, demand justice for Aneesh George

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 17 (UNI) The suicide of Booth Level Officer (BLO) Aneesh George in Kannur has snowballed into a powerful statewide protest, with employees’ unions and BLO organisations launching an unprecedented boycott of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties and demanding sweeping reforms in the treatment of grassroots election workers.
Aneesh George, a BLO from Ettukudukka, was found dead at his home on Sunday. His family and colleagues allege that unbearable work pressure tied to SIR responsibilities pushed him into deep mental distress.
Aneesh had reportedly completed nearly 77 per cent of the assigned work and had earlier expressed concerns about unrealistic targets and intense pressure, including a reported—though unconfirmed—complaint to the District Collector.
