Blue Economy: Marine experts provide insights into role of fisheries

Kochi, May 13 (UNI) India's leading marine experts provided insights into the role of fisheries in the blue economy at a 5-day national training for young researchers at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) here on Tuesday.
Organised jointly by the CMFRI and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), the training titled ‘Advancing India’s Blue Economy: Role of Fisheries Sector’ aims to equip participants with cutting edge knowledge and scientific practices for the sustainable utilisation of marine resources.
The inaugural session featured expert talks on critical issues concerning the sector including technological advancements in resource utilisation, potential fishing advisories, physical oceanography, marine biodiversity, and the impact of climate change.
