BNP leader claims 'active conspiracy' underway to erase spirit of Liberation War

Dhaka, Nov 10 (UNI) BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday warned that there was an "active conspiracy" underway by parties with vested interests, to erase the spirit of the Liberation War, and distort the country's founding ideals, in remarks targetting the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh.
"Those who collaborated with the Pakistani army to kill freedom fighters and commit atrocities against women are now attempting to swallow the country," said the BNP leader, while addressing a discussion with freedom fighters and their descendants at the Thakurgaon District Freedom Fighters Complex.
The event was organised by the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad district unit, local media agencies reported.

Trump again claims brokered India-Pak peace, will call to end Thai-Cambodia clash

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, said that he will soon make a call to end renewed hostilities on the Thai-Cambodia border, while citing his record at peace-making over the last ten months in which he included ending the India-Pakistan conflict in May as one of his major achievements.
Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump highlighted what he described as his record of global peacemaking, declaring that "in ten months I ended eight wars", before citing conflicts between Kosovo and Serbia, Pakistan and India, and Israel and Iran.
