London, May 2 (UNI) Britain recorded its hottest May 1st this year, the Met Office announced on social media platform X on Thursday, as the temperature at Kew Gardens in London reached 28 degrees Celsius and is continuing to rise.
The Met Office noted that the previous May 1 record was 27.4 degrees Celsius, set in 1990 at Lossiemouth, Scotland.
Outside Britain, the highest temperatures were also recorded in Ireland. According to the Irish national weather service, the country marked its hottest April 30, the second time temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius or higher have been recorded in April.
Meanwhile, the London Fire Brigade has urged caution around open-water swimming after April recorded a 32 percent year-on-year increase in water-related incidents in the region.
