Campaign drums for fifth phase election in Bengal fall silent this evening

Kolkata, May 18 (UNI) The razzle-dazzle of a high-octane campaigning for the May 20 fifth phase election to seven Lok Sabha seats comprising mainly the industrial belt of West Bengal is coming to an end at 6 PM on Saturday.
More than 1.25 crore electorate will exercise their constitutional rights in this phase to elect seven winners among the odd 88 contestants in the state in which the highest number of about 800 companies of Central Paramilitary forces have been deployed so far, official sources said.
Exactly 1,25,23,702 electorate, 61,72,034 women and some 348 transgenders, will pick their seven winners on Monday from Bangaon (SC), Barrackpore, Howrah, Uluberia, Serampore, Hooghly, and Arambagh constituencies spreading over three districts.

Arunachal: Police averts dacoity with arrest of five including 3 ex-NDFB cadres

Itanagar, June 22 (UNI) The East Siang District Police in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday claimed to have averted a dacoity in the Pasighat market area with the arrest of five individuals, including three surrendered cadres of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), a militant group of neighbouring Assam.
East Siang District Superintendent of Police, Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal informed that input was received that an Assam-based group including surrendered cadres of NDFB was hatching a conspiracy and ‘would be’ executing dacoity at one of the shops in the Pasighat market area, indulging in high cash transactions.
