CARE Hospitals, Malakpet, saves man with emergency angioplasty

Hyderabad, Nov 17 (UNI) A 49-year-old Hyderabad resident survived a near-fatal cardiac emergency with a life-saving angioplasty performed on him while he was in cardiogenic shock, by doctors at CARE Hospitals, Malakpet.
The patient had earlier suffered a cardiac arrest and was initially treated at a local hospital, where CPR was administered, followed by ventilator support and thrombolysis. Despite this, his condition continued to deteriorate, and he was shifted to CARE Hospitals in a critical state.
On arrival, his blood pressure was dangerously low and his heart’s pumping efficiency (ejection fraction) stood at just 40 per cent. An emergency angiogram revealed a severe 70–80 per cent blockage in the left main coronary artery, along with a clot in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery — a combination regarded as life-threatening.
