Chandigarh PCA orders inquiry into IPS officers named in expanding online betting probe

Chandigarh, Nov 16 (UNI) The Chandigarh Police Complaints Authority has initiated a formal inquiry into allegations that 13 IPS officers from Punjab and Chandigarh may have had links to an extensive online betting network operating across the region. The case has gained momentum after several officers’ names surfaced during ongoing investigations into the illegal syndicate.
The probe has been ordered by PCA Chairperson Justice (Retd.) Kuldeep Singh and Member Amarjot Singh Gill, who reviewed a complaint highlighting possible protection extended to the betting operators. The matter will be taken up again on December 2, when the Authority is expected to assess initial findings.
According to officials familiar with the case, investigators had previously identified multiple bookmakers based in Chandigarh whose activities were tied to the betting platform. Agencies are now examining whether any police personnel played a role in enabling the network or obstructing action against it.
