Chandigarh Police busts fake currency racket, arrests three

Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) In a major crackdown during the festive season, Chandigarh Police seized a large haul of counterfeit currency worth ₹ 24.27 lakh and arrested three individuals involved in the racket.
Acting on a tip-off, police recently apprehended two men, Gaurav and Vikram, in Chandigarh while they were delivering ₹10 lakh in fake currency. During interrogation, the duo revealed details about Jitendra, a resident of Jhalawar, Rajasthan, who was printing counterfeit notes at his home. Following this lead, police arrested Jitendra and recovered equipment used for printing the fake currency.
According to police sources, the operation traces back to Pramod Kakre from Madhya Pradesh, who was earlier arrested in his home state. Jitendra, a businessman who turned to counterfeiting after suffering losses in his business, was responsible for printing the notes in Rajasthan. The counterfeit currency was primarily distributed through courier services.
