Chhattisgarh Congress announces statewide agitation against power tariff hike and smart meters

Raipur, Jun 16 (UNI) The Congress Tuesday announced a phased statewide agitation against the recent increase in electricity tariffs and the installation of smart meters in Chhattisgarh. State Congress president Deepak Baij alleged that repeated hikes in power charges have placed an increasing financial burden on consumers and accused the BJP government of ignoring public concerns.
Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan in Raipur, Baij said the party would oppose what he described as the fifth power tariff increase since the BJP came to power in the state. He termed the latest revision "anti-people" and said the Congress would take the issue to the streets through a series of protests across the state.
As part of the agitation, Congress workers will gherao electricity department offices in all district headquarters on June 17. The party also plans to burn effigies of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who holds the power portfolio.

Panchkula, July 18 (UNI) Police in Faridabad and Panchkula have reported arrests in separate cyber-fraud cases involving alleged loan scams, hacked phones, malicious APK files, fake cryptocurrency platforms and fraudulent investment applications.
In Faridabad, the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ballabgarh, arrested six people in three cases, police said. Two men - Navneet Kumar Singh and Nitesh Kumar - were arrested in a case in which a Sector 11 resident was allegedly cheated of Rs 4.45 lakh on the pretext of arranging a bank loan.

Four held within 24 hours in Panchkula stabbing death; police cite two-year-old dispute as motive

Panchkula, July 18 (UNI) Panchkula Police have arrested four men within 24 hours in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old youth and injuries to his two friends in the Mansa Devi area, officials said on Saturday.
Police said the alleged attack stemmed from a dispute that began around two years ago over a comment related to body building by consuming protein powder.
