China expanding use of smart microgrid systems to cut carbon emissions

Beijing, May 19 (UNI) China is rapidly expanding its use of microgrids across industrial hubs, part of a wider push to cut emissions, reduce reliance on coal, and decentralise its power supply.
In Jiangsu Province, a key manufacturing and renewable energy base, smart microgrid systems are now powering entire industrial parks — slashing carbon output and energy costs.
Spanning 52,000 square metres, the solar array is supported by a state-of-the-art energy storage system. Together, they form a fully operational microgrid generating nearly seven million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually — enough to power the entire industrial park.
