Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys confront shadows within in trailer for "The Beast in Me"

Los Angeles, Sept 15 (UNI) The newly unveiled trailer for "The Beast in Me" unfurls like a sinister incantation, drawing viewers into a psychological labyrinth where grief, obsession and menace collide.
“We are…all of us…drawn to monsters,” begins a foreboding voiceover that runs throughout the teaser under fleeting images of Danes’ Aggie and Rhys’ Nile. “We flirt with death to prove we’re truly alive. And if we can’t stop, then that small fire we lit just might burn the whole house down…with us inside.”
Against these words, fractured images reveal Danes' shattered writer Aggie Wiggs and Rhys' Nile Jarvis, a magnetic figure haunted by suspicion.
Danes inhabits Aggie, a celebrated author left hollow after the tragic loss of her young son, who retreats into isolation until her neighbour becomes an irresistible subject.
Fascinated and repelled in equal measure, Aggie becomes ensnared in Nile's enigmatic orbit, channelling her torment into a dangerous pursuit of truth. What begins as a writer's attempt at renewal descends into a fraught game of pursuit, where Aggie's obsessions entwine with Nile's secrets, until both risk being consumed, reports DEADLINE.
The title of the series comes from a Johnny Cash song — but it’s not as simple as it might initially seem. It really is about all of our complicity,” showrunner Howard Gordon told Tudum. “Whether it’s Monica Lewinsky or Amanda Knox or Nile Jarvis or whatever, sometimes we are quick to make assumptions. But when we are forced to look at it from another angle, do we have the humility and the compassion to listen and to revise the narrative?"
Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales also star. Guest stars include Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison and Julie Ann Emery.
Danes also serves as executive producer of the mystery thriller, which is created, written and executive produced by Gabe Rotter (The X-Files). Gordon (Homeland) serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Also executive producing are Jodie Foster, Daniel Pearle (American Crime Story), Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger for Conaco, and Caroline Baron (Severance). Antonio Campos (The Staircase) directs and serves as executive producer. 20th Television is the studio.
The series premieres on Thursday, November 13.
