Clouds hover over Dharamshala IPL match amid security clearance uncertainty

Clouds hover over Dharamshala IPL match amid security clearance uncertainty

Shimla, May 8 (UNI) The fate of today's IPL match in Dharamshala hangs in the balance as the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) awaits final security clearance from the state police.
According to HPCA spokesperson Mohit Sood, despite one match being successfully held earlier, today's game remains uncertain due to rising tensions along the border.
Sood confirmed that teams and IPL officials have already reached Dharamshala, but added that “we could not confirm about today's match until security clearance is received.”
He further said that while the match is scheduled at the picturesque stadium today, all eyes are on the state administration's green signal in the wake of increased security concerns.
Notably, flight operations to Dharamshala remained suspended on both Wednesday and Thursday, but the IPL management has made alternative travel arrangements to ensure the arrival of players and officials.
Amid this uncertainty, Sood disclosed that the third IPL match originally planned for Dharamshala on May 11 is now likely to be shifted to Mumbai. “We have been informed that May 11 match may not be held here and instead is being moved to Mumbai,” he said.
Despite the logistical and security challenges, the HPCA remains hopeful that today’s game will proceed as scheduled. However, the lack of official security clearance continues to cast a shadow over the much-anticipated encounter.
As the cricketing fraternity waits anxiously, the next few hours will be crucial in deciding whether Dharamshala will witness another IPL showdown or not.
