CM orders probe after sugarcane-laden tractors torched in Bagalkot

Bengaluru, Nov 14 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday ordered an investigation into the torching of more than 50 sugarcane-laden tractors in Bagalkot district, assuring firm action against those responsible for the violence.
Speaking to media after paying floral tributes to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at Vidhana Soudha, the Chief Minister said farmers had clarified that they were not involved in the incident. He said directions had been issued to conduct a full probe and take action based on the findings.
Siddaramaiah reiterated that the state government has fixed the sugarcane price at Rs 3,300 per tonne and urged farmers in the Mudhol region to accept the rate and withdraw their agitation. He said most sugarcane farmers across Karnataka had already accepted the government's price.
