CM Sukhu reviews tourism projects; Rs 460 cr disbursed for Kangra Airport expansion

Shimla, Nov 7 (UNI) Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today reviewed various ongoing tourism projects of the Tourism Department and said that land awards worth Rs 460 crore have been released and disbursed to beneficiaries towards land acquisition for the expansion of Kangra Airport. Awards amounting to another Rs 1,899 crore are ready for disbursement, he added.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the airport expansion, Sukhu said it will bolster the economy of Kangra district and surrounding areas, boost tourism, generate employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth, and attract high-end tourists to the region.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the state’s ongoing heliport projects, directing officials to expedite construction. He noted that operational authorization for the Sanjauli and Rampur Bushair heliports has been received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and instructed that operations should commence promptly after completing the remaining codal formalities.
