Cold wave in Etawah, Bareilly, Kanpur, Barabanki & Amethi districts

Lucknow, Nov 16 (UNI) A cold wave was felt in Etawah, Bareilly, Kanpur, Barabanki and Amethi districts of Uttar Pradesh with day and night temperatures significantly below normal in the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, a slight seasonal drop in minimum temperatures is expected in the next 24 hours. Consequently, a partial cold wave may persist in the central parts of the state during the night and early morning until November 16. However, with the change in wind direction from Monday, the temperature drop will decrease.
Meteorological Department scientist Dr AK Singh said that while there is no active weather system in the state at present, cold and dry northwesterly winds blowing from the western Himalayan regions are causing a significant drop in night temperatures. Clear skies have increased radiation cooling at night, while the downward movement of cold winds due to the anticyclone over central India has also made the state's weather even cooler.
