Collen Hoover's 'Verity' to star Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson

Los Angeles, July 12 (UNI) Colleen Hoove's cinematic adaptation of "Verity" will feature Oscar winning actress Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson in lead roles.
Amazon MGM Studios has officially confirmed a October two, 2026, theatrical release for its upcoming high-profile adaptation of the bestselling novel "Verity".
Originally set to debut in May 2025, the film will now premiere during the same early October window that previously catapulted bestselling adaptation such as "Gone Girl" (2014) and "The Girl on the Train" (2016) to commercial success.
Helmed by director Michael Showalter, Verity boasts an impressive cast led by Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner. The project was first unveiled with a teaser trailer during Amazon MGM's high-profile presentation at CinemaCon this April, generating early buzz among exhibitors and critics alike.
The pic follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), who is hired as a ghostwriter for renowned author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) under mysterious circumstances. But her assignment takes a dark turn after discovering chilling autobiographical notes. Faced with a series of deadly family secrets, Lowen struggles to separate fiction from reality, while also blurring the lines with Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Hartnett).
Nick Antosca adapted with previous scribes being Hoover & Lauren Levine, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and Will Honley & April Maguire.
Producers are Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Hathaway and Hoover. EPs are Johnson, Lauren Levine and Kerry Orent.
Production companies are Eat the Cat, Semi-Formal Productions, Shiny Penny, Somewhere Pictures and Heartbones Entertainment.
"Verity" leaves behind an untitled Neon theatrical release on its previous May 15 date.
Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary trailer recently notched 400M global views in one week, the most ever for a non-sequel, original movie per WaveMetrix.
