Cong holds protest against ED action in National Herald case

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) The Congress on Wednesday held a protest here against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for filing chargesheets against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders in connection with the alleged money laundering case related to the National Herald.

Talking to reporters, party general secretary Sachin Pilot said that there was no substance in the National Herald case and called it "politically motivated".

He alleged that the Modi government does not have any proof and merely attempting to tarnish the image of the Opposition.

Moreover, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate labeled the entire matter a "conspiracy" orchestrated by the BJP.

She claimed that the BJP, driven by fear, was engaging in "vindictive and dirty politics," and asserted that the grand old party would "challenge the BJP's propaganda in court."

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav said that the Modi government cannot intimidate Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party by filing "false chargesheets."

"Every worker will stand strong in this fight. Today the situation in the country is such that anyone who raises voice against the government, attempts are made to suppress him," he said.

Notably, the Congress while condemning the filing of chargesheets against party leadership had announced a protests in front of Enforcement Directorate offices at the state Headquarters and in front of Central Government offices.
