Congress party to fight BMC elections independently, rules out seat adjustments

Mumbai, Nov 10 (UNI) In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming local body elections, the Congress on Monday announced that it will contest the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections independently, opting out of any alliance or seat-sharing arrangement with partners from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.
The announcement marks a major strategic shift in Maharashtra’s urban political landscape as parties begin preparations for the high-stakes municipal polls.
The declaration was made by Vijay Wadetiwar, senior Congress leader and state minister, during an interaction with the media. Wadetiwar said that the party’s senior leadership had discussed the matter extensively and arrived at a collective decision to go solo in Mumbai.
