Crackdown on illegal mining intensifies in Nurpur

Nurpur (Kangra) Jan 13 (UNI) Taking a firm stand against the growing menace of illegal mining, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nurpur, Dharam Chand Verma, on Monday warned that no individual involved in such activities would be spared.
Addressing a press conference, ASP Verma shared details of the ongoing action taken by Nurpur Police against illegal mining. He said the police are keeping constant vigil and are proceeding with strict legal action against those found violating mining laws.
Verma informed that during 2025, a total of 23 cases related to illegal mining have been registered in the Nurpur subdivision, in which 54 vehicles were seized and cases presented before the court. Under the Mining Act, as many as 616 challans were issued during the year, leading to the recovery of fines amounting to Rs 58.10 lakh.
