Cyient Semiconductors launches First GaN Power Device Portfolio in India

Hyderabad, May 11 (UNI) Cyient Semiconductors Private Limited on Monday announced the launch of seven new gallium nitride (GaN) power devices for the Indian market, developed using Navitas Semiconductor’s GaN technology.
The launch marks Cyient Semiconductors’ first commercial GaN product family and a significant step toward strengthening India’s domestic power semiconductor ecosystem.
The new portfolio is aimed at addressing the growing demand for high-efficiency and high-power-density solutions across AI data centres, telecommunications, consumer fast charging, industrial power systems, and e-mobility platforms, the Hyderabad based company said in a release.
The development builds on the strategic collaboration announced between the two companies in December 2025.
Under the agreement, Cyient Semiconductors will license Navitas’ GaN technology for use in India, enabling broader adoption of high-performance GaN power solutions with local support and supply-chain assurance.
As part of the collaboration, Cyient Semiconductors will also serve as a second source for select Navitas GaN devices already in mass production, helping improve supply chain resilience.
Compared with conventional silicon-based devices, GaN semiconductors offer higher switching speeds, lower conduction losses, and improved thermal efficiency. These advantages help reduce power losses, minimise solution size, simplify thermal management, and improve overall system performance.
Cyient Semiconductors said its initial GaN portfolio targets applications up to 650 volts, including USB-PD chargers, laptop and mobile adapters, AC-DC power supplies, AI data centre and telecom power systems, and e-mobility charging platforms.
The company also plans to expand its GaN portfolio in partnership with local OSATs, with a long-term roadmap toward domestic manufacturing of GaN power devices in India.
The first wave of products includes seven integrated GaN power devices in DPAK packages, combining drive, control, and protection functions with integrated EMI management and current sensing features.
Suman Narayan, CEO, Cyient Semiconductors, said, “The launch marked the company’s entry into high-performance power semiconductors with a roadmap for future expansion.
“These highly integrated devices are designed to accelerate adoption and support next-generation power applications. This represents the foundation of a broader GaN portfolio that will address the growing power and efficiency demands of AI infrastructure, industrial systems, consumer power, and e-mobility applications,” he said.
Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas Semiconductor, said India remains a key market in the company’s growth strategy and the partnership with Cyient strengthens local support infrastructure for customers while supporting “Make in India” initiatives.
Cyient Semiconductors said sampling of the first set of GaN power products is expected to begin by June 2026.
