DC face survival test as Sooryavanshi threatens playoff hopes

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2026 campaign has reached a defining moment, and standing between them and survival is a fearless teenager who has taken the tournament by storm.
When Delhi take on Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday night, much of the spotlight will fall on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive batting has turned him into one of the breakout stars of the season. For Delhi, the equation is simple — win or risk virtual elimination from the playoff race.
Placed seventh on the table with 10 points from 12 matches, Delhi have little margin for error left. Their poor net run rate of -0.993 has further complicated matters, meaning another defeat could leave them dependent on multiple results going their way in the final week of the league stage.
