Debutant Awais turns pain into defiance as Pakistan claw back against BD

Dhaka, May 9 (UNI) From a vicious first-ball blow to the helmet to an unbeaten half-century that transformed the mood of the match, debutant Azan Awais scripted a stirring fightback as Pakistan clawed their way back into the opening Test against Bangladesh on Saturday.
The 21-year-old opener, playing his maiden Test innings, endured a nightmare introduction when Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana struck him flush on the helmet badge with a sharp short ball. Visibly shaken, Awais underwent a concussion assessment even before settling into his innings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
What followed, however, was a display of composure and resilience that may well define Pakistan’s tour.
